If you have never been to the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (my friends call it short: Cooking School), well you have to try it. The restaurant is located just at the entrance to Granville Island.
I went there recently and ordered the following:
Appetizer: Red Beet / Gravad Lox ($9)
Main Course: Lamb Saltimbocca ($19)
Wine:
Hester Creek Okanagan Valley, BC Glass ($8)
This meal was a culinary delight. Pricing is very reasonable in comparison to the big names here in town.

What a wonderful place for lunch this past weekend! We sat on the small, yet sunny patio out front and loved it. The Gooey Cheese Griller sandwich, the vegetarian sandwich, the spinach salad and french onion soup were wonderful. So yummy! And on Saturday's sangria pitchers are on special...and they were good! Not too juice tasting/sweet like most other places.
The only downfall I would say is the bathroom - it was not very clean and wasn't a great way to end lunch!
Overall love the food, great service, fun place!

My husband and I have been going to The Pear Tree since we started dating as teenagers, and still head there at least once a year for kid-free date nights. Our lives have changed significantly over the past eighteen years, but the service and quality have remained top-notch. If there is a heaven, I hope to God Mon Petit Choux is the caterer. I'm pretty sure I could easily live out the rest of my natural life at a table in the corner - and easily slip into the next life completely satisfied.
Why is it so divine, you ask? Well, for starters it's a French bakery and that's just about all you need to know. These people can do things with pastries that will make you forget you ever knew of the word diet - seriously look at the pictures!
I started with the quiche, moved onto this divine pizza pastry, tried just about all of my friends pastries and finished off with a cappuccino. Then I went back to my hotel room and slept off the carb sins.
I did not repent, nor do I ever plan to.
One small word of warning for people with allergies though. The kitchen is not separate from the dining room and the air is filled with flour and sugar. Within 15 min of being inside my eyes were itchy and watering - but my companions who don't have allergies were fine.
Oh, and we smelled like pastries for the rest of the day - which isn't necessarily a bad thing :-)
