Edmonton mojitos with major moxie

Mojitos may just be the most refreshing alcoholic drink on the planet. The combination of lime and mint is always delicious, and there are plenty of ways to personalize your mojito to your liking. These restaurants mix up mojitos that will trick you into believing you are in the tropics, at least until your glass is empty. [Image credit: iStock.com/wmaster890]

MKT Fresh Food | Beer Market

1
8101 Gateway Blvd NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 3X8

They serve a bevy of mason jar bellinis here, in a variety of cool flavours. The Razz combines Bacardi razz rum with raspberries, fresh mint, lime, simple syrup and soda, while the raspberry beer mojito uses the same ingredients but adds Alexander Keith’s into the mix. Another beer mojito is the grapefruit beer mojito, which sees Absolut citron vodka mixed with Stiegl Radler beer and all of the other traditional mojito fixings.

Original Joe's

I absolutely love their strawberry mojitos. They aren’t like a traditional mojito – it has all of the traditional ingredients but in a different package. Cuban rum, strawberry, mint and soda are blended together into a slushy, delectable beverage that is just as refreshing as a traditional mojito. The strawberry and mint flavours go so well together.

Chop Steakhouse & Bar

10111 Ellerslie Rd SW, Edmonton, AB T6X 0J3

Oh la la! They serve a French mojito, with white rum, fresh mint, elderflower and soda. The aromatic elderflower lends a sensuous quality to the fizzy drink, without overpowering the taste of the lime.

The Common

The watermelon mojito here is so incredibly refreshing. It’s not too sweet but has a sparkly tang that dances on the tongue. It’s just Captain Morgan white, watermelon, lime and mint in a glass but its flavour is nuanced and sublime. It’s the ideal drink for a steamy summer night out on the town. They also serve a virgin version for those who want the watermelon flavour without the booze.

Sugar Bowl Coffee & Juice Bar

10922 88 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 0Z1

If you’re a fan of traditional mojitos (and, really, who isn’t?), try the classic mojito at Sugar Bowl. It keeps it pure and simple, with just fresh mint and lime muddled with rum. Enjoy one on the always-busy patio in summer, or sip one inside in winter, while dreaming of warmer weather.

Aussie Rules Kitchen & Piano Bar

The menu lists the mojitos under the “Mash ups” and what could be more accurate? For what is a mojito if not a mashing up of simple ingredients into something spectacular and refreshing? The Red Piano mojito swirls together fresh muddled kiwi, Malibu rum, soda, simple syrup and lime in a glass with a mint candied rim. The kiwi and lime flavours are so good apart but so much better together. For something a little different, try the Blueberry Hill mojito.
