By 2017, the Petit Alep — the younger sibling of Restaurant Aleppo, founded in the 1970s by George Frangié — cut a fine figure in the Villeray-Petite-Patrie neighbourhood. At the start, the area had only Italian restaurants, so the restaurant's founder made it his goal to create a vibrant space that celebrated and shared Syrian and Armenian cultures. Le Petit Alep is a story about family, passion, and life for the Frangié girls.

Co-founded by Tania and Chahla in the '90s, Le Petit Alep has remained tuned into its customers. Both institutions have always been keen to promote art and to host singers, musicians and artists at their table. The restaurant was initially a performance space but now lends its walls to local artists for bi-monthly exhibitions. By carrying on the family tradition, the two sisters have managed to develop the site by surrounding themselves with top sommeliers and continuing their culinary explorations.
