Bob at Mr.Freeze has been awesome with helping me with my aging truck. From fuel lines to replacing original parts (the truck is a 97) I always get treated fairly, never any curve balls, and my truck runs freaking amazing STILL!
The guys at Mr.Freeze are the most honest and affordable auto help you can get. I actually find myself pushing him onto friends and family because its soooo easy to get taken advantage of & Im tired of it,now my father, grandmother and a couple friends now go to him for everything. I have even bought a truck off him last summer and drove it to BC the next day and back, and all it needed was an oil change (obviously). Whether its a oil change or a new vehicle, you wont regret using Mr. Freeze.
Went there to have my heater looked at, guy spent 2 hours doing various things to my car, THEN after that he went into the car and finally had a listen to the blower and heard a click when the temp was changed. Charged me for the 2 hours of work with no result, i payed them to do nothing. Wanted to change my thermostat which was fully working, and said I should come back a different day because they will need a few hours and to remove my dash. That click is an actuator, an $11 part that goes in

With and electronic problem like yours there are many steps that have to be gone through to deter5mine the problem. First you had no heat so the obvious problems could be lack of antifreeze, bad thermostat, bad waterpump, air in the cooling systemetc, then there are electronic issues like a bad heater control switch, jammed plenum door, bad actuator etc,,, The tech has to go through a series of tests to determine what is wrong with the car you just cannot start throwing parts at a car until you figure out what is wrong. Even if th eactuator is replaced the next step my very well be to change the thermostat but one cannot tell until it is changed. There are many reasons an actuator may not work also such as the programmed memory for the heater control system needs to be reprogrammed as the blend door is out of range these are things that all need to be tested and being how it is underdash workit can easily take 2 hours to diagnose. The tech told you it was one of your actuators and it was after testing everything to confirm it. If you jst install an actuator and the actuator is just out of range the new one will not work either. Bottom line is you were pressed for time and we made and appointment and you were supposed to bring it back to complete the work and you failed to do so and you did not benefit from getting the full repair. Instead of calling and speaking with anyone you decided instead to post things on the internet. A simple conversation would have solved this minor problem!!
