4 must-have snowboard accessories

November 3, 2015

If you enjoy snowboarding, you know that there's a ton of necessary equipment involved, but there are also a few optional accessories that true snowboarding enthusiasts must have. Here are four must-have snowboarding accessories that you might not have considered before.

4 must-have snowboard accessories

1. Cameras that can handle rough conditions

Many people find out the hard way that a typical camera or smart phone simply won't get the job done when snowboarding.

Snowboarding takes place in extremely cold and rough conditions, and although Canadians may be used to these sorts of conditions, cameras are not.

Fortunately, there are shock and freeze-proof cameras available that are perfect for snowboarding. Olympus has a decent selection of appropriate cameras, but snowboarders can choose from a number of other brands.

2. Battery-powered boot warmers

These are exactly what they sound like: boot warmers that batteries power.

Snowboarding obviously requires snow, and you'll be trekking through and sliding on cold drifts throughout your day on the slopes. Snowboarding boots provide some protection from the chill, but your feet will eventually feel the cold.

Battery-powered boot warmers provide an amazing solution to this problem since they'll heat up the inside of your boots while you wear them.

Also, because the batteries are attached to a strap outside the boot, you don't even have to worry that the warmer's power source will be pressed against your feet all day.

3. Cable locks

Cable locks are one of the most overlooked snowboarding accessories.

Even hardcore snowboarders eventually need a break after hours on the slopes. And, if there isn't a place inside the lodge to store your board, you'll need to secure it before you head indoors for a cup of something hot.

Thankfully, you can use a cable lock to attach your snowboard to a post or other sturdy item and enjoy a roaring fire in the lodge without worrying that someone will steal your board.

4. Reusable hand warmers

Using single-use warmers can be costly, particularly if you need to warm up several times throughout the day, or if you snowboard frequently.

It's much more cost effective to buy reusable hand warmers. Or, if you're feeling crafty, you can even make do-it-yourself reusable warmers.

Whether you're a snowboarding veteran or someone just starting the sport, consider these accessories. Adding them to your gear could take your enjoyment of the sport to the next level.
