Whip up these easy DIY hostess gifts before heading to your next party

A hostess gift is such a great way of saying thanks. It's even more special when it comes with the love only a handmade gift can have. Spend 15-20 minutes on any of these simple projects and let your friends know how much their friendship means to you.

If you've got the skills to hand-sew a piece of ribbon onto a piece of fabric, you've got this project under control.

You will need: One standard sized bar towel, 2-100 centimetre pieces of wide ribbon, needle and thread.

To make: With the short side of the towel acting as the top, sew one piece of ribbon to each edge at the very top of the long side.

These easy and fun coasters will brighten up any table.

You will need: Square tiles, bright pictures on paper, mod podge and a paint brush.

To make: Cut your pictures slightly smaller than the tiles; brush a thin layer of mod podge onto the tiles and centre your picture; smooth out any bubbles and coat the top layer again; let dry for about 20 minutes.

Booze is always a welcome hostess gift, and this is an easy way to dress it up.

You will need: An old sweater, Fabric Fusion tape, and a bottle of booze.

To make: Measure the height of the bottle, add 15 centimetres, and cut the sweater sleeve off; fold inside out, lay tape along the inside of the bottom edge, flip it right side out and drop the bottle in.

Perfect for a party where everyone is sipping the same libations, these easy glasses let you know what belongs to whom.

You will need: Wine glasses with a base, chalkboard paint, tape, paintbrush

To make: Tape off the stem of the wine glass and paint the base with chalkboard paint; let dry and remove the tape to reveal a clean line; gift with a piece of chalk.
