4 tricks to keep your belongings safe at the water park

January 14, 2015

Going to a water park is a great way to have fun with friends and family when the weather's hot. Keep your personal belongings safe all day with a few simple tricks.

4 tricks to keep your belongings safe at the water park

1. Use lockers

Many water parks will rent out a locker for a day for minimal fee. If possible, put every valuable item you have in your rented locker and hold onto the key.

2. Choose a seat you can see from all angles

If there are no lockers available, keep your items in your sight by choosing a chair or set of chairs that are visible from the pool.

  • While you're swimming, keep an eye on your chairs to make sure nobody is touching your belongings. Be sure to move your seats and your belongings if you move to a different area of the water park.

3. Leave most things at home

When you go to a water park, bring as few of your own personal belongings as possible.

  • Do some research about what's needed at the water park, like whether they are cash only, accept credit cards or need an ID to rent equipment or lockers and bring only what's needed.
  • By bringing fewer valuables, you can ensure that you don't lose anything too important should anything happen to your stuff.

4. Be clever about disguising your belongings

For the items that you do need to bring to your seat, like credit cards or cash, don't leave them out in the open.

  • One of the best ways to discourage thieves from taking belongings is to disguise them so they're not easy to see.
  • Some clever hiding places for essential items are an empty, rinsed out sunscreen bottle with the top cut off and replaced or a large cardboard pack of gum.

With these simple tricks you can bring your valuables to the water park and leave the stress at home.
