If you go to an Indian restaurant and you're waiting for an hour and a half for your dish thinking it's going to be fresh and that's how it's made, you're wrong. Indian food takes HOURS to make. The sauces and spices need time to sink into the meat, and they do exactly that at Tika house. The service is great, they're always on top of your water and they don't expect you to tip! People might complain about the atmosphere but the reason why they made the place like that is because in India and Pakistan the best tasting places are done up like Tika house so you can focus on the food instead of the decor. There were 2 other small parties seated but did not disrupt our experience. Service was immediate and very polite. Beverages were served first and promptly. The wait between entrees and the main course was a little longer than common. The food was edible but not as refined as I would have liked. Tandoori chicken was a little too burnt. Green Curry seemed watery and lacked substance. Chicken masala did not have as much flavor as most. The garlic naan was delicious, moist and crispy. Mango Lassis were perfect. Saffron rice was light and fluffy. This place paid close attention to details with respect to the presentation of the food, prompt service, ambiance and environment. This raised my overall score.
