British Columbia: the country’s most diverse mix of people

The province bathed by the Pacific Ocean is home to people from all backgrounds and styles, and for good reason — a quarter of the population belongs to a visible minority, representing in particular various Asian communities. This is evident in the mix of restaurants, with British Columbia offering the chance to taste the whole planet in one province. In Vancouver we find no fewer than 4,000 restaurants and bistros that serve dishes inspired by 30 different nationalities. Chinatown alone is worth the trip!

The majority of B.C.’s inhabitants live in the southwest, with nearly 85 per cent taking up residence in the city. Unlike its neighbours to the east, British Columbia does not feature large agricultural lands, but rather specializes in the production of fruits, including grapes, to create wine. It is in the forest sector that the province excels, and this is its leading export.

Those who love the outdoors are well served in British Columbia, where one can engage in skiing, hiking on foot or by bicycle, water sports — anything is possible. Don’t miss the chance to explore Pacific Rim National Park, located between sea and sky, and to see the Aboriginal art that is celebrated there.
